The Czech presidency of the Council of the EU which will take place from July 1 to December 31, 2022, is a very intensive period not only for the Czech Republic but also for the City of Prague when the attention of the whole of Europe will be focused on the city. Prague will be the centre of all main events and meetings and will be actively involved in promoting key European issues and initiatives. This week, the Prague City Council has approved the proposed schedule for the implementation of the proposed events during the Presidency.

The Czech EU Presidency and the associated attention focused on Prague as the capital of the Czech Republic and the planned venue of the major events related to the Presidency is also an opportunity to highlight, communicate and promote the City's priorities. For the whole duration of the Presidency, the Czech capital will host several conferences, political meetings, cross-national events, a cultural programme and citizen events open to everyone, to address and develop crucial international topics and inform the public about the current EU issues. Most of the program will take place in a public space in the centre of Prague and the planned events will serve as platforms for pan-European dialogue with an emphasis on the inter-urban dimension. On the citizens' level, there will be a strong emphasis on information activities within the city's critical public debate on the European Union, which is based on often very distorted ideas about how the European Union works.
